Iran's Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Hashemi, highlighted significant progress in the nation's digital economy despite ongoing sanctions. The country has slashed high-usage mobile internet costs to 0.3% of GDP per capita and fixed internet to 0.2%, positioning itself among the most affordable providers globally.

With 166.3 mobile subscriptions per 100 inhabitants and 92% coverage of 3G/4G networks, Iran is aggressively expanding 5G infrastructure, now boasting 2,400 active sites. Hashemi framed internet access as a fundamental right, critical for bridging urban-rural divides—Iran ranks ninth worldwide in reducing disparities in digital payments.
